13-5, all-time in elimination games. we are sending in ace to the hill tonight. >> this is new territorial for them, but gonzalez will be on the hill tonight. he was coming off of nine dais rest. that's understandable. he is a 21 game winner,. >> and tonight, again, all eyes are going to be on jason worth. there was some criticism, obviously, in the previous year, came in hitting .232. people saying, maybe he wasn't worth his wait. but he certainly defied that last night. >> i think every person was glad he did it, because a lot of people have given him some slack over the years. he stepped up to the plate. that's why they brought him up. >> let's take you to the highlights and pick it up in the bottom of the 9th. jason worth leading off. after falling behind, ball les, 13th pitch of the at bat.
5:01 pm
an absolutely no doubter. a game-winning walkoff shot. the reason we are here worth's dramatic sports, a deciding game five. it has taken two short years for d.c. to become a baseball crazy town. >> fas have been great. showing up in record numbers. i went to a hockey game and the place was packed. and they said, somebody said, just a few short years ago, this place was empty. so i knew that a winning ball club would bring the fans and here we are two years later and they are showing up. it's awesome. >> seems like the last two months, our crowd has been electric. and it translates to the players. we feed off it. my guys like playing for a packed house. it was fun. really fun for me. i don't get excited too much,
5:02 pm
but i was excited seeing the crowd. >> and really excited for the 40,000 fans out here. mike shanahan, he actually met jason worth when worth was two years old through mutual friends. and he said hey, he threw the ball so well, i was disappointed he signed with the nats. >> it's impressive when you have genes at two and three years old and impressing a coach. bob barner, i'm sure they will be pouring in here shortly. >> i reached through the gate, i have gotten one of these. every fan coming to the game tonight will get a towel. the gates don't open for another hour. some folks are already here. they have been here for about an hour. still 3 1/2 hours until the first pitch. it's going to be cool, it's windy, but looking forward to it. we talked to some fans earlier. >> i have been waiting this since 1955 when they first came
5:03 pm
to griffith stadium. the center lost 4-2. i've been waiting for tonight for 57 years. that's what i think about this. >> how thrilling is this thing? >> this is history, man. this is history. i mean, i can't explain it. it's like the solidarity between the washingtonians from maryland, the whole dmv. everybody was saying hi to each other. everybody kept screaming, you know, screaming out chants and stuff, it was really nice. >> i don't have a ticket yet. >> you are hoping to get one. >> i am, fingers crossed. i'm hoping to get more than one. >> how much are you willing to pay? >> i don't know. for one, it depends. i'm already here. hopefully -- i don't know. hopefully i'll get a good deal. i've been looking all day. they are expensive. >> what are the legitimate ones costing? >> only thing they have right now at the ticket booth is like
5:04 pm
$300. >> a lot of cash. >> yeah. >> i'm not willing to pay that much. i'm cautiously optimistic. we were here last night, i'm excited. i think that will carry us over. >> what was that like? >> it was very exciting. especially toward the end when jason hit that home run. it was incredible and the atmosphere was great. >> reporter: and as you see live now, bryce harper is waiting to get into the ballpark. no, just a fan wearing one of the many named jerseys here. i did go over to the nats ticket box window and the cheapest seat you can get, the only seat is a $315 ticket to one of the suites. that's all they have left. they sold the standing room only seats this morning. they went fast. so really, if you don't have a ticket, i'm assuming all these people do, then if you don't have a ticket, it's going to cost you $300 plus to see this game. a cool night, windy, one of our guys clocked a 30-mile an hour gust. it's been windy.
5:05 pm
we don't know what it will do for the home run balls. but everybody is excited. still 3 1/2 hours until the first pitch. people are here and looking forward to this game. >> thanks, bob. i know the ticket won't be cheap, but hopefully it will be worth it. you look back at game three and they set an attendance record. that was a 1:00 start. yesterday, a 4:30 start, today, prime time. 8:30, perhaps the attendance surpasses 4517. >> this crowd was awesome last night. when the bullpen came in, they struck out eight straight batters, fans were on their feet, doing everything they need to be doing. it is chilly, we'll see how that factors into this game. >> october baseball, any day in october is a good day for baseball, but it is a little chilly. >> you can't complain. you cannot complain about it. >> she's from arizona. come on, california. >> where did you buy that scarf? where did you find that? >> yeah, i had to dig it out of the boxes. >> it was mine, i lended it to

5:07 pm
i understand. but sunday's weather, we're talking 70s. sunday's weather, we're talking 70s. scott, lindsey. >> sunday would be game one of the nlcs. it will be right here and on fox 5. so let's hope we get 70- degree weather. we will say that tonight's game is the 1,299th game in nationals franchise history. >> they also got their 100th win last night, which is a great accomplishment. >> we should round this thing up to 13. we have to win so we can round it up to 13 in game one. let's send it back to the studio. >> thanks. you can certainly feel the excitement building. and hey, all you out there, while you are at the game, you can e-mail your pictures at wttg.com. that is natspix@wttg.com. >> fresh off last night's debate between the two vice presidential candidates, mitt romney and paul ryan returned

5:48 pm
participation numbers because every dollar we raise makes a difference in our fight to end breast cancer. breast cancer never takes a break, and neither can we. >> in washington, beth parker, fox 5 news. a woman's battle against breast cancer may have saved her husband's life. dolly stringer was diagnosed with breast cancer back in april. when she shaved her head to get ready for chemotherapy, her husband shaved his in support. that is when they found evidence of stage three melanoma on his scalp. >> i jumped in the room and said hey, what were you thinking? and they said wow, that's a big ugly black mark on your head. >> if it wasn't for his wife and shaving his head, he would have gone on for many months completely unaware of this. >> doctors say the early detection may have saved his life. incredible story there. >> sure is. gary. so we are done fighting. we are now talking about the weather. >> we weren't fighting.

5:50 pm
front is making a difference. here are temperatures right now. they have been falling off the last couple of hours. 58 degrees here in town now. manassas 55. it's a little colder for winchester at 54. 57 in hagerstown. 56 in cumberland, way out west had a little more time for the cooler air to settle in. once the sunsets, temperatures will be falling further. one thing to talk about, too, behind this front, the winds have really kicked up a little bit. still gusting at 24 miles per hour for nationals. quantico is 26. dulles 25. and still back to the north and west, these winds are pretty healthy. they are gusting up around 20, if not above that. and i do believe most of the evening, most of the overnight, these winds will be around 10 to 15 miles per hour. once the sunsets, it will get a little cooler. 54 degrees at 7:00. we'll have a chilly breeze out there. certainly cooling down by 9:00.
5:51 pm
in the upper 40s and by 11:00 here in town, 46, 47 degrees. and that is going to be chilly out at nats park. if you are headed out there, make sure you take something to bundle up. 7th inning, it's going to get cooler. colder for the suburbs by 11:00. some of the suburbs will be already down into the upper 30s. the frost and freeze, we have a frost advisory. we have a freeze warning. purple county is under the freeze warning. that's what we are thinking temperatures right at freezing, if a little below. if the wind will die down. if the wind stays again, right around 5, 6, 7 miles an hour. we have a frost advisory around the metro for d.c., fairfax county, down over to prince george, and further down to the south as well. that is where we think temperatures will be flirting with frost. here in town, we'll be lower
5:52 pm
40s to upper 30s. i'm not suspecting that there's going to be a big frost issue here in town overnight tonight. so we'll go 42 overnight here in the city. gaithersburg, right at freezing, 32. frederick 28. dulles 34. manassas 37. and again, if the wind is over 5 miles per hour for most of the night, these temperatures probably won't be down to freezing or below. but again, we're going to go ahead and take the numbers down close to that. you'll know that be careful if you need to cover some plants or bring tender vegetation inside. a few clouds with the front moving on through. the rain has stayed up to the north of us and gets a spattering of mixture way up there in the new england states. high pressure is filling in. this is tomorrow's weather for us. it looks like we'll be mostly sunny. underneath high pressure, temperatures in the 60s. but only for one day, because for sunday, the warmer air is going to come right back up into the mid atlantic and beyond and we are talking temperatures here will be 70s
5:53 pm
plus. we'll have a mixture of clouds and sun, but stay dry. i think sunday at this point is really looking pretty nice. tomorrow looks good, too, but sunday is good as well. overnight tonight, 41 here in town. freezing and frosting out in the suburbs. it will be mostly clear. right now, forecasting winds to stay right at 5, if not above that. it's real critical in terms of the overnight temperatures. tomorrow we are up to 62 degrees. it will be sunny and cool and a perfect fall day and we'll have a few clouds from here to there. but we are not expecting much in the way of cloud cover at all. just mostly sunny skies. a great fall day tomorrow. if you like it a little bit warmer, sunday is your day. 72 degrees. and then monday, we're going to have showers, maybe a spotty thunderstorm, temperature even warmer up to around 74. we cool off a little bit tuesday. all this on your fox 5 seven- day forecast that takes you all
5:54 pm
the way out. it does look -- i know this is a long way. but next weekend, looks like we could be in for real, real cold stuff if the extended miles verify. >> sunday looking good for a game, we hope at nats ballpark. >> and the redskins are playing, too. >> are they playing at fedex? >> i'm not sure. we have been focusing on baseball. >> thanks, gary. still ahead at 5:00, a lot coming your way, but the news edge at 6:00 just minutes away. >> brian bolter is here with a preview. >> a hickup for american airlines. then a key decision in a riot assault case involving the university of maryland. somebody expressed extreme irritation. they pasted something sticky with the word hate on it. this has already been mostly scraped off.

[ female announcer ] he says... president obama and i both care about poor and middle-class families. [ female announcer ] but this is what the budget plan mitt romney supports actually does. more huge tax breaks skewed to the wealthy. while cutting nearly eight hundred billion from medicaid... even though middle-class families rely on medicaid to help loved ones cover nursing-home care. and it helps parents support children with disabilities.
5:57 pm
if mitt romney really "cares," wouldn't we see it in his priorities? but he's really creating debt. the facts are clear. obama's four deficits are the four largest in us history. he's adding almost as much debt as all 43 previous presidents -- combined. and over 30 cents of every dollar obama spends is borrowed. much of it from countries like china. he's not just wasting money, he's borrowing it and then wasting it.
